This piece is inspired by fashion of the1920s. The term flapper referred to a "new breed" of young women who challenged conventional social norms during that decade. Flapper fashion is associated with short skirts, bobbed hair, jazz and make-up. This movement has its origins in a period of liberalism, social and political turbulence, and increased transatlantic cultural exchange that followed the end of WW1. In many ways beyond fashion, the self-reliant flapper allowed the modern woman to make herself an integral and lasting part of today’s world.
